Sit-and-go tournament - what's that?

Sit-and-go tournaments are a very exciting form of Texas hold 'em poker. And they pay great prize money for finishing first, second or third place. As the name implies, just take your seat at the table, wait for it to fill up (ten players) and off you go. Play continues until one player has all the chips and prize money is paid down to third place.

Playing in sit-and-go poker tournaments is a good way to learn the game. In time, you will develop a solid poker strategy and know when to bet, raise and fold at the exact right time.

Finish just third out of ten and you're in profit!

A typical example - the entry fee is $10+$1. Everyone's $10 goes in to the prize fund. Everyone's $1 is taken by the poker room for running the tournament. So, at a single table 10 player sit-and-go tournament the total prize money is $100. This is generally paid out $50 to the winner, $30 for second place and $20 for third place. Just finish third to make a $9 profit. Finish first for a $39 profit. A typical single table sit-and-go tournament lasts around 45 minutes. Not a bad hourly rate is it.
